Behind the Scenes at Manchester Metropolitan University working on their explainer video for the NCUK pathway programme

Our producer, Zoe, takes us behind the scenes at the Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU) to give an insight into working on the two explainer videos for an education programme that helps students in Asia and Africa access higher education in this country.

We were commissioned by the University's marketing department to produce two, 3 minute films that brought understanding to the process of international students using the NCUK pathway programme.

The first film’s main focus was on an Asian audience, whilst the other film focused on an African audience. Although both films are to be shared in a variety of ways as part of other marketing strategies.

So what is the NCUK Pathway?

It assists international students that have limited access to further education and wish to study a degree at University  - whether they’re from an underprivileged society or due to a lack of resources. Whilst the films don’t specifically reference this, we wanted to share the reasoning behind the films.

For each film, we interviewed three ladies that are currently undergoing the programme at Manchester Met, after completing the first part of their studies in their home countries or elsewhere in Europe. It was great to hear their stories.

I was only there for the day of interviews - the other two days were location shoots in and around Manchester with our filmmakers Paul H and Andy Little - but it was great to be involved. I took the role of interviewing the students with a list of set questions, and it was interesting hearing their stories. All of them were a pleasure to deal with and I enjoyed learning as we went through the day. Manchester is a great city and it was humbling to hear how international students want to work hard and earn their place within our education system. Paul H enjoyed taking advantage of visiting a variety of locations in Manchester - a particular bonus was getting to see the Etihad stadium that features! It was great to see a real mix of culture throughout the city, showcasing how much we all enjoy embracing the passions of others.
