After the success of our previous Future Learn project for the University of York, we partnered again on our third Future Learn venture. This time, to educate the audience about the Criminal Justice System. The university had originally come to us with an idea of using actors to stage a made up crime, but we suggested building the online course through a bespoke dramatised animation. They provided us with a script, which we designed into a storyboard and then built the bespoke animations into four online learning videos, incorporating a voiceover, soundtracks and stock footage as required.
It was a four week online course, created uniquely to showcase the stages of the crime storythroughout the videos, from the crime, to the interview day, the sentence and the trial, with narration throughout. Each video entices the audience to carry on watching the course, with clues placed throughout the videos along with cliffhangers to help you solve what happens next.
As well as the animations, we were also asked to create twelve talking head videos based in the university’s mock court room. Many lecturers and experts in the field spoke about the topic, and shared their experience.
You can watch our trailer video version of the course below, which was designed to promote and entice the public to sign up for this Future Learn course.
