A little insight into our latest series of videos for Future Learn

When we set out to create our latest series of videos for Accenture’s online Future Learn Course called "Digital Skills Retail Course", we were excited to include a whole variety of production tools along the way. With a brief for twenty bespoke videos in the style of their previous Accenture Digital Skills courses, we made our way to London to begin the process.

Over the course of 4 days, working in a London-based studio, we produced twenty presenter-led ‘talking head’ style videos, each film edited to feature animated graphics to give the viewer a highly engaged experience, along with a short trailer for the Digital Skills Retail Course.

Paul, Producer here at Digifish, was in charge of the overall project and filming of the presenters. He explains: “This was such a great project to work on and it’s always a really proud feeling to see these Future Learn films piece together to become part of an online package. In order to go above and beyond for Accenture, we filmed all 7 presenters in a professional studio down in London, over the course of 4 days, using the best equipment for the job. We used our autocue system which allowed the presenters to confidently read their scripts whilst keeping a consistent eye line to the camera lens, directly addressing the viewers. It’s a daunting task to try and remember a script when you are sat in the spot light with a camera pointing at you. So using the autocue system immediately alleviates that pressure and therefore allows us to capture our presenters in a natural, confident manner.

The presenters were all filmed on a well lit white backdrop, giving our animators a clean palette to work with when it came to the edit. They were able to create animations to appear around the presenters in a very tasteful way. Having a pure white background also allowed our editors to manipulate the size and position of the presenter, enabling them free control of where in the frame the presenter should appear to compliment the animations appearing around them.”

It was clear to me from my first conversation with Paul at Digifish that he and his team understand what makes a good FutureLearn course. Digifish take a thoughtful and creative approach and I have found them to be flexible, clear communicators.
